Photo of the Day: M5V stands tall and proud

M5V is truly a work of art. It was designed by Core Architects and Teeple Architects to be an elegant and slender tower and with its characteristic vibrant red box mid-tower (which houses the mechanical room), it definitely breaks out of the King West condo mold.

Another unique feature of M5V is that it is a leader in sustainable living. This philosophy is seen in the design and within the advanced and environmentally friendly building systems. Low emission materials were used during the construction of suites and common areas and, now that construction is complete, suites and common areas feature energy-efficient appliances and water conserving fixtures.

Mountain Equipment Co-op is Toronto’s favourite place for all your outdoor equipment needs

The King Street West entrance of MEC.

 400 King Street West

Spring is almost here. That means it’s time to get out your bikes and outdoor equipment. Mountain Equipment Co-op, commonly referred to as ‘MEC,’ has all the products one could possibly need to venture out into the great outdoors this season. And, luckily for M5V residents, the Toronto outpost is just a short walk away.

MEC started in the late ‘60s as a co-op to provide mountain equipment to Canadians, as prior to this the equipment could not be found anywhere. In its first three years, the co-op was only run by volunteers. The original business model, however, was not sustainable, as there was little money and disagreements often arose between the partners.

The philosophy behind MEC – to provide quality gear at excellent value – has been retained in its current form, and today, it is a thriving co-op. Although MEC does make a profit to cover its costs, it delivers fair prices, providing its customers with great deals.

Another core value of MEC is minimizing environmental impact by creating long lasting products. Their inventory selection is very extensive. You’ll find things like mountain bikes, camping equipment, clothing, electronics, and much more. If MEC doesn’t have it, you probably won’t find it anywhere.

M5V has a lot to offer residents, including great neighbourhood amenities like MEC. If you would like more information, feel free to contact us at (416) 929-1660 or email us at resupport@axoncapitalreatly.com. We would be happy to help you with your search for the perfect condo!

Decorating your Condo: Christmas Edition

With just a week left to November, it’ll be time to start bringing out Christmas ornaments, decorations, lights, and so forth. But with limited space and restrictive rules, decorating this Christmas might be a bit of a challenge for many people, especially those who own or rent out condos.  There are still many ways to make your condo look holiday-ready. Get creative. Sticking to the holiday colour scheme of red, green and gold will already go a long way. Using simple accessories like ribbons, candles or stockings are also easy ways to transform your home.

Of course, the Christmas tree is the most important part of the holiday tradition. Large trees are often not suited for the condo space. But, here are a few alternatives:

1- Who says ornaments are just for trees? Try hanging them from the ceiling or placing them around the house in small trays.  Choose triangular shaped trays that are reminiscent of that evergreen.

2- Use real branches and pines to give your space that “forest” feel. Place them on counters or hang them up. Don’t forget, you can also decorate them!

3-  Find small plants which you can also decorate. It doesn’t have to be a small pine. You can also opt for a plant with longer branches or even a cactus!

4- Hang mistletoe or wreaths on doors.

5- Try putting Chritmas lights around windows.

With the December just around the corner, get your condo holiday ready just in time for all those christmas parties and in-law visits!

Hume Gives Seal of Approval for M5V

In a recent Toronto Star article, real estate expert Christoper Hume assessed the M5V and its development on King West.

He writes that the M5V will have no trouble fitting into this trendy area, with its eye-catching panels of coloured glass and stylish design. These colourful additions are a growing trend in new condo buildings, and add modern liveliness to traditional buildings.

Hume writes that instead of taking over the King West strip, the condo fits nicely into the setting. Unlike some other projects, the M5V has a “genuine relationship with the street”, making it an impressive option in the downtown Toronto condo market.

M5V has been highly praised by many condo critics for its innovative and colourful exterior. In 2007, M5V was a winner at the  Greater Toronto Home Builders’ Association, not only for best architectural design but also for best suite design! Indeed, this condo is a stunner inside and out, with the praise and awards to prove it. If you’re looking for a condo that sets itself apart and macthes your own creative flair, look no further than M5V.
